Dear Parents, Visitors, and Guests,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! We have had another wonderful beginning to the school year!

I am Mike Stroud, and I am going into my 8th year as the Principal of Reuben Elementary School. I am very thankful and blessed to be part of such a wonderful school, supportive staff and community!

The Reuben staff for the current year includes Dr. Betty Willyerd-Administative Assistant, Gena Zolan, school nurse, Pre-K- Candice Lominick and Sally Yoder, Kindergarten-Kelly Whitlock and Monique Scurry, First Grade-Reggie Eargle, Second Grade- Larry Bell, Third Grade-Christie Dyal, Fourth and Fifth Grade- Gina Hedgepath and Lisa Malone, Support Services- Rynn Kinard, Speech- Nicole Knight, Art- Robin White, Music- Betty Sherrod, P.E. -Sarah Eades, Computer-Lisa Abrams, Guidance-Matthew Tepper and Media Specialtist- Martha Hill. Susan Senn is serving a dual role this year as Reading Coach and Reading Interventionist. Robin Iccard is the Cafeteeria manager, and she is assisted by Carolyn Davenort and Nancy Herlong. Last but not least is our custodian, Pat Dewalt. Cheryl Wilson is in charge of attendance, bookkeeping and also the secretary. She will gladly handle any questions that you may have about our school.

New to our staff this year are: Ms. Bettie Sherrod (Music), and Mrs. Robin White (Art), Martha Hill (Media Specialist) and katie Nichols. Currently, Ms. Katie Nichols is serving as a long term sub in first grade. We welcome them in to the Reuben Family.

I would like to encourage parents to get involved and stay involved in your child’s education. It is extremely important in the early years for parents to have an active role in their child’s education. Please feel free to visit our school and your child’s classroom anytime. We do ask that you schedule the visit ahead of time and check into the main office when you enter the building.

If you are interested in volunteering and/or chaperoning trips, please take time to complete the form for background checks and pay the $26 processing fee. We welcome your involvement. Forms are available in the main office.

Talk to your child daily about school and READ,READ, READ, to and with your child daily. These little things DO make a difference in your child’s success at school. “The more you read, the more you know, the more you know, the more places you will go!”- Dr. Suess

We are anticipating another great year at Reuben! Thank you for allowing us to work with your child! If you have any questions or concerns, please free to call the school at 321-2664 or email at mstroud@newberry.k12.sc.us.
